I’m Craig Strachan, Vice President of New Deer Show this year.
It’s been a fine week weather ways leading up to what should have been the show, so it’s a shame I’m writing this instead of being busy setting up.
I have my own joinery business, CWS Joinery Ltd, it’s main concern being erecting kit houses. I’ve been married to Rebecca for almost 2 years. We have to boys, Harris and Finlay.

Firstly, when my legs had a bit more running in them, I was involved in the football competition on a Friday night. Then as I got older the marquee dances on the Friday and Saturday became the highlight of the weekend, with a BBQ at mum and dads before the Friday marquee becoming a bit of an annual event amongst friends. They live right next door to the show ground so it was very handy!
Before being asked to be Junior Vice for last years show I was sports convenor for 5 years, which meant I was in charge of organising the events in the main ring and making sure everything runs to plan. Being one of only 2 joiners on the committee I’ve been kept busy over the years with various tasks.
With the support of the show goers and sponsors it really does make all the hard work the committee does worth while. Stay safe and I hope to see you all at next years show, I hear it’s going to be a scorcher!
